Annual or perennial herb ; up to 15 cm long , woody at base , glabrescent . Stems prostrate , branching from the base , with young shoots covered in white hair . Leaves overlapping or closely placed on the stems , 4–13 × 4–13 mm , blue/grey , orbicular to broadly spathulate , thick and slightly succulent , margins hyaline , obtuse to mucronate , truncate or base attenuate . Inflorescences in dense racemes , appear between the leaves ; pedicels 3–6 mm , reflexed in fruit . Flowers white or cream with purple veins ; calyx 5-lobed , lobes unequal , somewhat scarious , upper lobe 7–9 mm , suborbicular , median and lower lobes smaller , 5–8 mm , linear-lanceolate to lanceolate ; corolla 2-lipped , 8–10 mm , white or cream with purple veins , palate pale yellow . Fruit capsule , 5–10 mm , ovoid , dark brown , with a pale brown papery covering . Seeds oblong , with inflated (papillate) ridges . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
