Erect annual herb ; up to 20–40 cm high . Stems branching profusely . Leaves opposite below , alternate above , 10–40 × 0 . 5–3(–5) mm , linear , somewhat fleshy , glabrous , obtuse , base gradually tapering into the petiole , ± 3–12 mm . Inflorescences solitary ; pedicels filiform , 8–14 mm , only the upper part recurving . Flowers pale lilac or pink with yellow palate ; calyx lobes unequal , 3–5 mm long , the upper longest , ovate-lanceolate , acute ; corolla pale lilac or pink with yellow on the palate , ± 7 mm , upper lip 2-fid , lower lip 3-fid with a prominent palate and with central lobe overlapping the laterals ; stamens 4 . Fruit capsule , 6 mm in diameter , nodding , with unequal locules , globose , dehiscing by irregular basal pore in the large locule . Seeds 1–1 . 5 mm long , ridged . (Ref .
