Limonium stocksii (Boiss.) Kuntze

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, extending to S Iran and Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 5 species of Limonium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial subshrub or shrub ; up to 30 cm high . Stems erect to ascending , woody , branched , spreading , older branches twisted and gnarled and leafless ; basal part of stems covered with old leaf bases . Leaves alternate , sessile to subpetiolate , 5-12 x 5-7 mm , saptulate to obovate , apex obtuse , base tapering , grey-green , covered with powdery salt . Inflorescences in small panicles of up to 3 cm . Flowers purple-pink , arranged in 2-flowered spikelets along the inflorescence ; each spikelet subtended by 2 bracts ; outer bract ± 1 mm , ovate , pink-brown ; bract subtending the two flowers c . 3 mm , glabrous , brown with a scarious margin ; inner flower subtended by another bract slightly shorter than the outer ; calyx infundibuliform , 1 . 5-2 mm , scarious , shallowly 5-lobed above , with 5 reddish-brown veins , pubescent ; petals purple-pink , 5 mm , oblong , fused below ; stamens 5 exceeding the petals . Fruit ± 1 mm , ovoid , enveloped by the persistent calyx , 1-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
