Slightly succulent annual with ribbed stems that may be reddish ; up to 30cm . Leaves arrow shaped , often red tinged , on a long stalk with entire margins . Flowers white , inconspicuous . Fruit surrounded by bright red wings with red veins when mature .

الاستخدامات


The slightly sour leaves are eaten as salad or cooked in soups. (Ref. Flora of Oman, vol. 1). After the rainy season, People used to search for this plant especially children who loved its leaves lemony taste. It is either eaten raw without additions or with dried sardine and salt. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
