Leaves opposite , sometimes whorled , bright green , soft , sessile , ovate to ovate-oblong , entire margins , gland-dotted , three parallel veins . Inflorescences solitary , axillary , on slender pedicels . Flowers dark blue with a red centre ; sepals 5 , lanceolate ; petals 5 , obovate , margin with glandular hairs .
