Small , delicate glabrous annual herb ; up to 10 cm tall with erect wiry branches . Stems erect to ascending , sparsely branched , 4-angled , glabrous . Leaves sessile , oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate , base slightly clasping , acute tip , entire margin . Inflorescences solitary , in the axils of leaves . Flowers white or creamy ; calyx with spreading lobes , star-shaped , lobes linear-lanceolate , ± 3 mm , acuminate ; corolla white , lobes orbicular ; stamens and style about as long as corolla . Fruit capsule , globose . Seeds 2 or 3 , 1 mm long , depressed-ovoid , strongly tuberculate , dark red-brown , concave on inner face , rounded and transversely ridged dorsally . (Ref . POWO ; 2022) .
