Prunus persica (L.) Batsch

This species is native to N Central China; introduced and cultivated world wide. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 7 known species of Prunus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Shrub or small tree ; up to 7 m tall . Stems with green , glabrous branches . Leaves 5-15 x 1-3 cm , oblanceolate to narrowly oblong , tip acuminate , margin glandular-serrate , glabrescent , pinnately veined . Inflorescences solitary , rarely paired , subsessile , usually appearing before the leaves . Flowers 10-15 mm , deep pink . Fruit drupe , 4-8 cm , globose , yellow or pale green , velutinous ; flesh yellow or whitish , delicate aroma ; stone deeply furrowed and pitted . Seeds single , large , red-brown , ovate , surrounded by a wood-like husk . (Ref . https://en . wikipedia . org) .
