Salix acmophylla Boiss.

This species is native to SW and C Asia. (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.1). Usually found near cultivation and possibly introduced. (Ref. Miller & Cope; 1996). There is only one species of Salix occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Dioecious . Small tree or large shrub ; up to 5 m tall , with dark grey or brown bark . Stems with reddish-brown young branches , becoming glabrous . Leaves alternate , 8-13 x 1-3 cm , pale green , linear-lanceolate , glabrous , apex acute , base shortly cuneate , margin shallowly serrate , patiolate . Inflorescences in catkins , 2-5 cm long . Flowers perianth absent ; male flowers: stamens 4-5 ; filaments free , villous at the base ; anthers pale yellow ; female flowers: ovary stipitate , glabrous ; stigma 2-lobed . Fruit capsule , ovoid . Seeds plumose . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
