Small tree ; up to 5m . Bark grey . Leaves alternate , simple , oblong or obovate to oblong-lanceolate , margin sharply crenate , entire and undulate , apex shortly acuminate , base oblique , glabrous with pubescent on the nerves , pubescent beneath . Flowers cream , monoecious , in axillary spikes . Fruit 3-lobed , with usually only one of the three lobes developing , globose , pubescent , reddish brown , dehiscing along a longitudinal ridge .
