Large shrub ; up to 2m . Bark black to purple-black . Young branches brown . Leaves green , somewhat fleshy , sessile , triangular with often a recurved apex . Flowers bisexual , pink or white tinged with pink , in terminal bracteates racemes . Fruit capsule , triangular , red-green , 3-valved . Seeds with a tuft of apical hairs .
