Annual herb , unbranched or with a few branches above , sparsely to densely pilose ; up to 25cm . Leaves alternate , sessile , grey-green , lanceolate to linear-lanceolate , apex acute with the midrib extending beyond the tip into a mucro , base tapering pilose . Flowers greenish-yellow , female and bisexual , sessile in 2-3-flowered axillary clusters ; petals absent . Fruit nut , subglobose , black .
