A woody based annual or perennial with red stems branching from the base , covered in white hair ; up to 60m . Leaves alternate , slightly concave with serrated margins and dense grey hair on the under surface . Flowers small , pale green/yellow , clustered at the leaf nodes , enclosed by hairy bracts . Fruit brownish achene , enclosed in hairy bracts .
